KOTA BARU: PAS and Perikatan Nasional must explain to Kelantan voters the reason they were unable to resolve water issues in the state when they were part of the Federal Government, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

During a mega ceramah in Kelantan tonight (Aug 7), the Prime Minister said that Perikatan and PAS had every opportunity to provide clean water to Kelantan folk but failed even after three years of helming Putrajaya.

“When Perikatan and PAS were in the (federal) government for three years, why was there no action taken to resolve the water problem in Kelantan?

“What did you do? What happened to Kelantan when you governed the country? After three years in the government, you still couldn’t resolve water issues here.

“All talk but no action,” Anwar said in his speech during a Mega Ceramah held in Batang Merbau, Tanah Merah.

With that in mind, Anwar said Kelantan voters should now think about their future and move on from PAS’ 33-year rule in the east coast state.

He said PAS had a chance since 1990 to make changes and improvements for the well-being of Kelantan folk but failed to fulfil its responsibilities.

The Port Dickson MP also called on local voters to choose a good future for their children, adding that the unity government under his leadership would not abandon Kelantan.

“Compare (Kelantan) with other states like Perak, Johor, Selangor and Penang. Why do these states have good development? Because their leaders actually do their jobs.

“We have given them (PAS and Perikatan) a chance for three years. You want Islam to be upheld? We are doing that. Do you think I’m a kafir (infidel)?

“I hope we can see change here in Kelantan. Make a decision based on what’s best for you, your children, as well as your children’s education and job opportunities for them.

“I am telling you frankly now that as long as I am the Prime Minister, Kelantan will not be forgotten. I’ve waited too long and worked hard to be here and I will not abandon anyone,” he added.
