Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and 31 ministers are currently at the Unity Government Cabinet Members’ Retreat 2024 in Cyberjaya. The retreat, taking place at Cyberview Resort & Spa on Wednesday (Jan 17) and Thursday (Jan 18), is also being attended by 15 special guests, as announced by the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM).

At 2.40pm, Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, arrived for the retreat and was greeted by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali and Public Service Department director-general Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz. Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof are also in attendance.

The retreat is being held in accordance with the Prime Minister’s desire to convey his mandate to all Cabinet members and top civil servants regarding the government’s direction and strategy for this year and beyond. It aims to ensure alignment of objectives and create a sense of unity among Cabinet members on the government’s integrated action plans.

“This retreat programme is also aimed at strengthening synergy and cooperation between the Cabinet and the civil service leadership as well as enabling the implementation of these action plans with focused execution to realize the Madani Economy aspiration,” said the statement from JPM.

The programme includes discourse and forum sessions with experts from the public and private sectors, industries, and international organizations. Key topics of discussion include Economic Challenges and Direction; Social Welfare and Security; Infrastructure Development and Sustainability; Governance; Innovation; and Communications towards the country’s prosperity, according to JPM.

Prime Minister Anwar mentioned that the retreat will focus on seeking new initiatives to boost the country’s economy and reviewing the implementation of policies launched by the government last year. The first retreat of this kind was held in Putrajaya in January last year, discussing the direction and setting of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for every ministry in the Unity Government. – Bernama
