LAHAD DATU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has once again rebuked former leaders of Sabah who did not go all out to fight for state rights when they had the power to do so.

He said while the Madani government listened and emphasised with the requests of Sabahans, it was a shame that when these leaders were powerful, they did fight more for Sabah’s rights.

He said a meeting was held in Kota Kinabalu on Thursday (Sept 12) evening with leaders on the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and would try to solve what could be resolved first.

Anwar felt that this issue needed a solution which involved proper discussions and deliberation.

“That is why I tell my friends and ask them why when they were in the government and they had so much power, they did not want to do more for Sabah then?” he asked.

He said the federal government was not denying the rights of Sabahans, but this was a matter which needed to be sorted out by both the state and federal governments.
