Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (pic) is set to have a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during the 30th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting in San Francisco on Friday (Nov 11).
This bilateral meeting was arranged at the request of Canada.
The total trade between Malaysia and Canada in 2022 amounted to RM10.35 billion (US$2.35 billion), representing a 4.2% increase from the RM9.93 billion (US$2.39 billion) recorded in 2021.
This year marks 66 years of official diplomatic relations between Putrajaya and Ottawa.
Following the meeting, Anwar will participate in the APEC Economic Leaders’ Retreat (Session II) on the final day of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting 2023, hosted by the United States.
Additionally, Anwar is scheduled to attend Friday prayers at the San Francisco Islamic Center and hold a meeting with American Muslim Tech leaders.
Prior to returning to Malaysia, Anwar will also meet with the Malaysian diaspora and students at a dinner on Friday.- BERNAMA
