An armed robbery in Hutan Melintang resulted in a family of three losing belongings and money worth RM39,500.
The incident took place at around 4.15am on Monday (Jan 22), according to Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Adnan Basri.
The victims included a 39-year-old man and his parents, ages 69 and 66.
The son, who is self-employed, was in his bedroom praying when five men, believed to be foreigners, entered the house.
One of the burglars hit him on the back with the hilt of a machete and then threatened him with the machete at his neck before tying his hands together and taking him to his parents’ bedroom.
Upon reaching the parents’ bedroom, the burglars tied up the father’s hands and proceeded to ransack the house, stealing jewellery, mobile phones, handbags, two motorcycles, and cash.
They also threatened to kill the victims if they reported the incident to the police. However, none of the victims sustained serious injuries.
The burglars were described as wearing dark clothing, face masks, and baseball caps, with moderate height, skinny build, and tanned skin, according to ACP Ahmad Adnan.
Police forensics and K9 units were dispatched to the house and managed to find fingerprints and items belonging to the suspects.
