Albert Ramos-Vinolas of Spain outplayed Argentina’s Pedro Cachin in the first round of the Cordoba (Argentina) Open on Monday, despite only managing one ace to his opponent’s seven. The unseeded Ramos-Vinolas, who won the Cordoba tournament in 2022 and reached the final the previous year, converted four of six break points and won 18 of his 29 second-return points to secure the victory in 2 hours, 5 minutes.
Jaume Munar of Spain also emerged victorious, defeating Colombia’s Daniel Elahi Galan 6-2, 6-4. He will now face the top seed Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina in the next round. Additionally, Hugo Dellien of Bolivia overcame Brazil’s Thiago Seyboth Wild in three sets, while two Argentinian players, Facundo Diaz Acosta and Facundo Bagnis, also won their opening matches.
In the Open 13 Provence, Italian sixth seed Lorenzo Musetti sailed through the first round, defeating German alternate Maximilian Marterer 6-4, 6-2. Musetti saved three of five break points and won 20 of his 27 first-service points during the match.
Only two other main-draw matches were played on Monday: Kazakhstan’s Alexander Shevchenko defeated French wild card Benjamin Bonzi 7-6 (4), 6-4, and Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut beat France’s Richard Gasquet 6-3, 7-5.
