JOHOR BARU: A babysitter who was arrested for allegedly abusing a two-month-old here has been released on police bail, says Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat.
He said the 36-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of causing a fracture on one of the thighs of the baby girl was released on Wednesday (July 31).
“She has been released on police bail after her remand period came to an end last Wednesday (July 31).
“We are in the process of completing the investigation paper on the case before handing it over to the deputy public prosecutor,” he said on Saturday (Aug 3).
It was previously reported that the police have arrested a woman after receiving a report about a two-month-old baby whose thigh was fractured after being sent to her babysitter’s house in Bandar Dato Onn.
The babysitter was arrested on July 22 to assist in investigations under Section 31(1)(A) of the Child Act 2001 for ill-treatment, neglect, abandonment or exposure of children.
She was initially placed under a six-day remand until July 28.
Her remand period was later extended for three days between July 29 and 31.
