PETALING JAYA: Men’s doubles shuttler Soh Wooi Yik has not recovered from a toe fracture and will miss the Hong Kong Open from Sept 10-15 along with Aaron Chia.
Wooi Yik suffered the injury in the semi-finals of the Paris Olympics against China’s Liang Weikeng-Wang Chang.
Men’s doubles coach Tan Bin Shen confirmed the news.
“I can confirm that Wooi Yik will not compete in the Hong Kong Open next week as he is still recovering from a toe fracture sustained in the semi-finals of the Olympics in Paris,” said Bin Shen.
“He can walk and move around now and he has started light training but he has not resumed full court training.”
Wooi Yik and Aaron, who also missed the back-to-back Japan and Korean Opens, could make a return in the China Open from Sept 17-22.
