In the Spain Masters badminton tournament in Madrid, the men’s doubles pair Wan Arif Wan Junaidi and Yap Roy King advanced to the final on Saturday. Despite not competing in tournaments for the past three months due to Roy King’s knee injury, the unseeded duo defeated Christo Popov and Toma Junior Popov of France with a scoreline of 21-17, 21-17 in the semi-finals.
This was their first tournament since the Syed Modi International in India last December. Their comeback at the Swiss Open in Basel ended in a second-round defeat last week.
Now, Arif and Roy King are set to face Sabar Karyaman and Moh Reza Pahlevi of Indonesia in the final match scheduled for Sunday.
