KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, the Menteri Besar of Johor, and Datuk Rozi Mamat, the Umno liaison committee chairman of Terengganu, have been appointed as the chairmen of the Barisan Nasional in Johor and Terengganu respectively. The decision was made during today’s BN Supreme Council meeting, as announced by Barisan secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir in a statement.
Dr Zambry mentioned that the unanimous decision to appoint the divisional coordinating committee chairmen is in accordance with Article 24(a). Both Onn Hafiz and Rozi were previously appointed as the Johor and Terengganu Umno liaison committee chairmen on Dec 7.
Additionally, the BN Supreme Council also agreed to establish a special committee to coordinate programmes for BN’s Golden Jubilee Anniversary, which will be celebrated in June this year.
Dr Zambry also expressed Barisan’s highest congratulations to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, who recently took the oath of office as the 17th King of Malaysia on Jan 31. He also extended gratitude to Al-Sultan Abdullan Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, who has completed the term as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong. – Bernama
