IPOH: A sinkhole has caused the porches of two houses in Taman Teja here to cave in, while two other houses also suffered some minor damages.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said a big chunk of the porches of both houses, numbered 11 and 15, at Lorong Teja Utama, caved in during a downpour on Saturday (Sept 28) at about 7pm.

“No houses collapsed nor was anyone injured during the incident.

“House number 9 and 17 also suffered some minor damages,” he said in a statement Saturday (Sept 28).

“A husband and wife were at home at house number 11 during the incident while a woman was also at home at number 9,” he said.

“Nobody was home at house number 15 and 17 during the incident,” he added.

Sabarodzi said the firemen had conducted a size-up of the situation and proceeded to monitor the structural integrity of the affected houses.

“We advised the respective inhabitants to vacate the premises and go somewhere safe.

“The couple has moved out while the woman chose to stay behind. The police have advised her to use the back door,” he said, adding that the operation ended at about 9.20pm.
