MELAKA: Stray dogs are attacking humans and livestock in the Jasin district, says Dr Mohd Yadzil Yaakub.

The Bemban assemblyman said these canines, left hungry and thirsty with no caretakers, have turned into wild dogs.

Dr Yadzil said a recent incident at Jalan Taman Maju-Lipat Kajang in Jasin, where a motorcyclist was believed to have been attacked by the dogs, shows that relevant stakeholders need to take action against the stray dog menace.

“I visited the victim, Muhammad Nur Haikal Abdul Ghafar, at Melaka Hospital on Monday (Aug 5), where he is currently fighting for his life,” he said.

Dr Yadzil said the incident occurred shortly after another victim fractured his legs and both wrists after colliding with a stray dog at Kampung Pondok Kempas, also in the Jasin district.

He said the rising number of dog attack cases have caused immense concern and the people want a solution.

Dr Mohd Yadzil said the state government should find a viable solution as troubled locals vociferously demand an end to the problem.

He added that the state government can work with animal activists and related departments to look into a humane approach to ending the misery of those affected.
