(Reuters) – Irish boxer Katie Taylor has expressed her willingness to face Chantelle Cameron in a third showdown, following her victory over the British fighter in a thrilling bout that earned her the title of two-weight undisputed world champion at the Three Arena in Dublin.
At 37 years old, Taylor managed to avenge her first professional defeat to Cameron when she secured a majority decision win on the judges’ scorecards on Saturday. This victory improved Taylor’s professional record to 23-1, while Cameron dropped to 18-1.
The Irish boxer was competing for the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC and WBO World Super Lightweight titles.
“Tonight you saw the real me. When I box no one can beat me,” Taylor proclaimed in the ring after the fight. “Let’s get the trilogy at Croke Park!”
“It was a remarkable performance, in terms of how she rallied from defeat in her last fight.
“You learn the most from your failures and your losses. You’re only a failure if you give up. Go and go again. Never give up.”
Taylor now joins American Claressa Shields as the only female boxer to hold undisputed titles in two-weight classes.
“Two-weight undisputed champion, that sounds very nice,” Taylor said.
“That was the longest six months of my life waiting for this rematch.
“This was my real homecoming tonight. Whoever wrote me off, you don’t know me very well. Don’t ever doubt me.”
