BRICS highlights use of local currencies in int'l trade, financial transactions between BRICS countries, with partners

JOHANNESBURG, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) – The BRICS countries emphasized the significance of promoting the use of local currencies in international trade and financial transactions involving the BRICS countries and their trading partners.

In the Johannesburg II Declaration, which was approved after the 15th BRICS Summit lasting three days, the BRICS countries also stated their support for the enhancement of correspondent banking networks among the BRICS countries and facilitating settlements in the local currencies.
