PETALING JAYA: The 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, received congratulations from Britain’s King Charles on his successful accession. In an official tweet on X (previously Twitter) on Wednesday (Feb 1), the 75-year-old British head of state and his wife extended their best wishes to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim as he begins his reign.
King Charles also expressed his desire to maintain close ties between the two nations and the royal families. He also expressed interest in working with Sultan Ibrahim on solving global issues, particularly in the areas of climate change and environmental sustainability, which he identified as crucial issues for the future.
The British monarch fondly reminisced about his past visits to Malaysia and looked forward to future opportunities to celebrate the close connections between both countries and royal families. Sultan Ibrahim of Johor officially began his five-year term as the new King of Malaysia after being sworn in at a ceremony at Istana Negara on Wednesday (Jan 31).
