MPS from various parties enthusiastically participated in the parliamentary debate for Budget 2024 at the committee level on Tuesday (Nov 7), according to Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
The MCA president, who was present at the Dewan Rakyat, stated that the debate focused on the Plantation and Commodities Ministry, specifically addressing concerns surrounding the oil palm industry.
“Tonight, the Budget 2024 debate at the committee level is on the Plantation and Commodities Ministry.
“MPs have raised many issues related to the planting of oil palm,” he said in a Facebook post Tuesday (Nov 7).
He noted that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who is also Plantation and Commodities Minister, was concluding the debate for the ministry.
Earlier, Dr Wee said that from Monday (Nov 6) onwards, the Budget 2024 debate at the committee level would go on until Nov 27.
Monday’s debate focused on the Prime Minister’s Department and the Finance Ministry.
After the debate by MPs from both sides of the divide, the minister or deputy minister from the respective ministry would wrap up the debate and decide whether it would be a voice vote or to vote en bloc if 15 MPs demand to do so.
