KUALA LUMPUR: Bumiputra individual investors can now purchase up to a maximum of RM1mil in the Amanah Hartanah Bumiputera Scheme (AHB) related to properties, according to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The Prime Minister disclosed this increase in the maximum investment limit for individual bumiputra investors during the launch of an additional RM1bil AHB units on Tuesday (Oct 17).
This marks the fifth increase since the launch of the AHB scheme in 2010, which aimed to provide bumiputras with the opportunity to have a stake in prime commercial properties in cities.
The AHB is under the authority of Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad (PHB), which currently manages approximately five billion units.
The additional RM1bil units come from PHB’s asset injections, including KPJ Specialist Hospital Damansara 2, Marlborough College in Iskandar Puteri, Menara 1 Sentrum in Kuala Lumpur, Wisma Cosplant in Subang Jaya, and Maersk Warehouse in Shah Alam.
PHB presently possesses assets valued at around RM11bil in prime commercial properties across various locations.
In his introductory speech, PHB chairman Tan Sri Ahmad Nizam Salleh stated that PHB aims to enhance its overall assets to RM25bil by 2030 through its transformation plan.
Currently, AHB units are held by approximately 75,000 individual bumiputra investors and 16 bumiputra investment firms.
