In Kota Kinabalu, the Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) party is hopeful that the party’s central leadership will make the right decisions regarding potential partners for the upcoming state elections. Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, the chairman of Sabah BN, expressed confidence in the leadership’s ability to achieve victory in the 17th Sabah election.
Bung, who is also a Lamag assemblyman, acknowledged that the central leadership will ultimately decide whether BN will run independently or collaborate with another political party in the state polls. While speaking after a breaking fast event with Zone 6 Sabah Umno members in Lahad Datu on Sunday, Bung mentioned that early discussions have taken place regarding potential partnerships with other parties. Zone 6 includes the Lahad Datu, Kalabakan, Tawau, and Semporna divisions.
As the Sabah Umno chief, Bung emphasized that it is premature to make a decision on election partners at this stage. He noted that BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has previously stated that such decisions will only be made after the dissolution of the Sabah state assembly.
