KUALA LUMPUR: Kinabatangan MP Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin (pic) and wife Datin Sei Zizi Izzette have been acquitted and discharged by the High Court here. This decision comes after a revision application was granted, resulting in all graft charges against them being dropped.
On Thursday (Sept 7) morning, Justice Azhar Abdul Hamid heard arguments from both the prosecution and defence before acquitting and discharging the couple. Bung and Zizie were seen calm and smiling upon hearing the verdict.
Bung, 65, was initially charged with receiving two bribes. One was an amount of RM2.2 million, while the other was RM262,500. These bribes were alleged to be received as gratification in order to obtain approval from Felcra for a RM150 million investment in a Public Mutual unit trust.
Zizie, 44, faced three charges of abetting her husband in these alleged offences.
More details to follow.
