A 46-year-old businessman, Lee Chee Huat, pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate’s Court in Kuala Lumpur on Friday (Sept 29) to a charge of voluntarily causing hurt to a 29-year-old Indonesian domestic helper using a vacuum cleaner. The incident occurred at an apartment unit in Metro Prima, Sentul on Sept 22, around 10:30 am.
If found guilty, Lee could face a maximum prison sentence of 10 years or a fine or whipping, or any two of these punishments, under Section 324 of the Penal Code. Lee was granted bail at RM2,500 with one surety by Magistrate Atiqah Mohamed @ Mohamad Saim. He was also ordered to report himself at the nearest police station every month until the case is resolved. The court scheduled the mention for Nov 3.
The prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nadia Eleena Jamaluddin Akbal, while Lee was represented by lawyer Vincent Chew.
