PETALING JAYA: ASP Rahmat Fitri Abdullah has advised individuals who suspect they have fallen victim to a scam to call 997 and reach out to the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) within 24 hours. He shared this advice in a series of videos on social media. He explained that by alerting the NSRC within 24 hours, there is a possibility for the transaction to be blocked and prevent the money from being deposited into a mule account.
According to ASP Rahmat, it takes just a few minutes for scammers to transact the money to several other accounts, making it a challenging task for the police to trace the mule accounts due to multiple layers involved. After reporting to the NSRC, the victim is required to lodge a police report and gather details for the case.
ASP Rahmat reminded the public to always stay vigilant as prevention is the most effective way to avoid scams, which can come in various forms.
