LOS ANGELES, March 18 (Xinhua) — The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) recently honored Chinese themed entertainment projects with Thea Awards for their “Outstanding Achievement” in delivering exceptional tourist experiences. Among the 14 global projects recognized at the annual gala held in Los Angeles, the “Bermuda Storm” simulator ride at Chimelong Spaceship Theme Park in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, stood out.
The “Bermuda Storm” ride features the world’s largest curved projection screen and can accommodate approximately 300 riders at a time. Utilizing advanced audiovisual and dynamic simulation technology, it offers visitors an immersive experience of a cruise ship adventure.
Additionally, another Chinese project, the “Aura: The Forest at the Edge of the Sky” Atrium Installation at Haikou International Duty-Free Shopping Complex in Hainan Province, received the TEA Thea Award for Immersive Mall Experience.
The chairman and CEO of Chimelong Group, Su Zhigang, was also recognized with the Buzz Price Thea Award for “Lifetime of Distinguished Achievements,” making him the first Asian entrepreneur to receive this prestigious award.
During the gala, TEA International Board President Melissa Oviedo commended Su for his visionary leadership in the continuous development of Chimelong parks and resorts. Oviedo highlighted innovation and evolution as key aspects of the themed entertainment industry.
Oviedo emphasized that the award-winning Thea recipients have shown exceptional creativity, innovation, and dedication to providing extraordinary guest experiences on a global scale. Their work has not only entertained and inspired millions but has also influenced the future of the industry.
Su expressed the Chimelong Group’s commitment to collaborating with top theme park design firms worldwide, sharing experiences with industry counterparts, expanding themed events and interactive performances, and contributing to the sustainable growth of the global tourism sector.
