The Vice Premier of China, Zhang Guoqing, recently visited Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and urged centrally-administered state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to continue supporting the region’s development in order to better align with the country’s new development strategy. His visit took place from Nov. 20 to 22.
As a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Zhang emphasized the significant progress that has been made in the development of Xinjiang with the help of central enterprises. He further emphasized the need for central enterprises to utilize their strengths and collaborate with local enterprises to help Xinjiang develop industries that are characteristic and advantageous in the current market.
Additionally, Zhang encouraged central enterprises to engage in comprehensive and in-depth cooperation with Xinjiang’s enterprises, and to facilitate their integration into industrial and supply chains. By doing so, they can not only contribute to the development of the region but also create job opportunities.
It was also stressed by Zhang that central enterprises should actively participate in improving local infrastructure and public services, as well as creating job opportunities through specific projects.
During his visit, Zhang took the time to inspect local grassroots fire rescue stations and emphasized the importance of enhancing the region’s ability to prevent and respond to major safety risks.
