    Civil servant remanded over contracts issued to wife's company

    SEREMBAN: A 49-year-old civil servant has been placed in custody for seven days on suspicions of awarding contracts amounting to about RM540,000 to four companies owned by his wife.

    Zainab Yahya, a prosecuting officer from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, made the request for the suspect’s remand before magistrate Syed Farid Syed Ali in this location.

    The individual is currently being investigated for exploiting his position by giving contracts to his wife’s companies for the provision of supplies and services to his department.

    It has been revealed that the man was apprehended just before midnight on Monday (Feb 19) at the MACC office in this location.

    The case is being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.

    State MACC chief Awgkok Ahmad Taufik Putra Awg Ismail affirmed the situation when reached for comment on Monday.
