(Reuters) – According to the governor of the Zaporizhzhia region in Ukraine, one person was killed and at least two were injured when an apartment building was destroyed in a Russian air attack on the city of Zaporizhzhia. The governor, Yuriy Malashko, communicated through the Telegram messaging app that the residents of the building had been evacuated and that eight other apartment buildings had been damaged.

Zaporizhzhia is the administrative center of the broader Zaporizhzhia region in southeast Ukraine, which is currently under partial control by Russia. A Moscow-backed official in the Russia-controlled parts of Zaporizhzhia previously attributed the strikes in the city to Ukrainian forces.
