Tanang Sepat, Malaysia – Kamaruzaman Denan, the proud owner of the locally made coffee brand Kopi Kampung Kundang or Kopi 3K, is experiencing a surge in demand and daily sales. This success can be attributed to the Selangor government’s support through the “Kita Ke Kampung #produkkampung4u” program, which selected Kamaruzaman as a participant in February. With the guidance provided by the state government, especially in terms of marketing strategy and promotion, Kopi 3K has garnered positive responses from customers beyond the Kuala Langat and Sepang districts. Kamaruzaman’s monthly gross sales have increased from RM20,000 to an average of RM30,000 since joining the program.

Previously, Kamaruzaman only sold his coffee powder at local morning markets and sundry shops in his village’s vicinity. However, thanks to the state government’s dedicated promotion efforts, he is now receiving orders from as far as Batu Caves and Gombak. In an interview with Bernama, Kamaruzaman expressed his gratitude for the state government’s support and attributed his expanded customer base to their promotional initiatives.

The manual packaging process currently limits Kamaruzaman’s ability to fulfill a higher number of orders. To overcome this challenge, he is actively seeking funds to purchase a packaging machine. By obtaining the “Food Safety is the Responsibility of the Industry (MeSTI)” certification, he aims to expand his market reach and cater to a larger customer base.

Borhan Aman Shah, the caretaker chairman of the state rural development committee, acknowledged Kamaruzaman’s success as one of the rural entrepreneurs benefiting from the “Kita Ke Kampung #produkkampung4u” program, implemented since 2021. The state government allocates RM700,000 annually to support and promote the products of 300 selected rural entrepreneurs, both domestically and internationally. Borhan highlighted the program’s focus on assisting entrepreneurs in enhancing their product quality, particularly in terms of packaging, and expressed satisfaction with the positive feedback received regarding increased sales.
