The director-general of the Community Communications Department (J-KOM), Datuk Dr Mohammad Agus Yusoff, has confirmed his resignation from the position. His resignation was confirmed when he stated, “Yes, I have tendered my notice to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. It’s nothing out of the ordinary.”
When contacted, Mohammad Agus declined to comment on the speculations surrounding his resignation that several media outlets reported on November 16.
Mohammad Agus was appointed to the post in the Prime Minister’s Department on February 2. Despite this, last August, Skudai state assemblywoman of DAP Marina Ibrahim called for Mohammad Agus to be replaced due to “failure to disseminate government initiatives to the people”.
Furthermore, in May, Mohammad Agus admitted to his failings, which led to confusion regarding infographics published by J-KOM. An infographic chart titled “Is it true the grocery bill has risen from RM200 to RM500 a month?” was released by J-KOM on July 12 and caused public outrage, with many questioning its logic.
