PETALING JAYA: Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has extended his condolences to the family of Astro Awani video editor Ahmad Hafiz Azhar Nordin, who tragically passed away in a road accident.

“Condolences to all family members and friends of the late Ahmad Hafiz Azhar, who passed away due to a road accident this morning (Oct 14).

“May Allah bestow mercy upon his soul and place him among the believers. I pray that his family finds strength and patience in facing this loss. Al-Fatihah,” Fahmi posted on X.

The incident occurred at 7.46am as Ahmad Hafiz Azhar was on his way to work.

His motorcycle skidded at KM8.5 of the Maju Expressway, resulting in fatal head injuries.

Police reported that the accident was likely caused by slippery road conditions due to heavy rain, which led to the victim falling and colliding with a metal guardrail.

His body was taken to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM for an autopsy and is expected to be returned to his hometown in Alor Gajah, Melaka, for burial on Monday.

Ahmad Hafiz Azhar is survived by his wife Nur Farrah Hanna Ibrahim, 35, and their two sons, aged five years and nine months.

The National Union of Journalists Malaysia (NUJ) and the Gerakan Media Merdeka (Geramm) also expressed their sorrow over Ahmad Hafiz Azhar’s passing.

In a joint statement, NUJ and Geramm described the late Ahmad Hafiz Azhar, 36, fondly known as Randy, as a dedicated and committed individual in his work.

“Our deepest condolences to the deceased’s family, friends and the entire Astro Awani community. May his soul be blessed and placed among the righteous. Al-Fatihah,” it said, Bernama reported.
