KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang’s political secretary, Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman, stated that there was confusion regarding the postponement of the recording of Abdul Hadi’s statement by the police. He clarified that Abdul Hadi was not ill but had to undergo unexpected medical treatment in the morning. The delay in reaching Kuala Lumpur for the statement recording was due to this medical treatment. Mohd Syahir reassured that Abdul Hadi is not avoiding the police and had informed them that the delay would be around three to four hours.

Mohd Syahir mentioned that Abdul Hadi was being treated with antibiotics during the time of the appointment and confirmed that the treatment was unscheduled. He suggested that the police could verify this information with the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital in Kuala Terrenganu. Mohd Syahir also expressed that he had informed the police about the situation at 8 am on the same day.

Regarding the photo of Abdul Hadi meeting with other Perikatan Nasional leaders on the same day, Mohd Syahir clarified that the meeting was already part of the original schedule. At around 12:45 pm, the Bukit Aman officer who came to record the statement was seen leaving the party headquarters. Mohd Syahir emphasized that the statement recording process went smoothly.

He further mentioned that Abdul Hadi would cooperate with the police if a second round of statement taking was required. The investigation is related to Abdul Hadi’s speech during the Ceramah Perdana Perikatan Nasional in Bakri, Muar, on August 26, where he allegedly questioned the authority of the Pardons Board. The police are also investigating the case under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for the misuse of network facilities.
