Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang affirmed China’s commitment to global climate action, expressing China’s willingness to collaborate with all parties to create a clean and beautiful world. Ding, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, delivered these statements at the World Climate Action Summit in Dubai, UAE.
Ding conveyed Chinese President Xi Jinping’s greetings and best wishes for the UAE’s hosting of the summit. He recounted China’s crucial role in reaching the Paris Agreement eight years ago, expressing pride in China’s contributions to global climate governance and the support it has provided to developing countries in addressing climate change.
Ding emphasized the shared destiny of humanity in confronting the challenges of climate change, calling for collective determination and action from all parties involved. He outlined a three-point proposal for global climate action, including the practice of multilateralism, acceleration of green transformation, and the strengthening of action implementation.
The first point of the proposal is to practice multilateralism, adhere to the goals and principles of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results through enhanced solidarity and cooperation.
The second point emphasizes the need to accelerate green transformation by promoting the use of renewable energy, advocating for clean, low-carbon, and efficient use of traditional energy, and fostering green and low-carbon production methods and lifestyles.
Lastly, the third point focuses on strengthening action implementation and honoring existing commitments, with a particular call for developed countries to increase support to developing countries in terms of financial, technological, and capacity building assistance.
