SHAH ALAM: Ten suspects have been detained over a gang robbery at a house in Pandamaran, Klang, which left one victim injured and resulted in RM600,000 in losses.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the suspects, nine men and a woman, were detained in an operation in Mantin, Negri Sembilan and the Klang Valley.

“The suspects, aged between 23 and 46, are believed to be responsible for the gang robbery,” he told a press conference at Selangor police headquarters here on Monday (Oct 7).

Comm Hussein said the violent masked gang, armed with machetes, was led by a man with three prior offences on his record.

“We believe they have been active for about a year.

“In the gang robbery at a house belonging to a businessman in Pandamaran on Oct 3, 12 individuals broke into the house at about 6am.

“CCTV footage showed the suspects arriving in two vehicles before breaking into the house,” he said.

The suspects tied up three residents there, injuring one of them.

“Various valuables and jewellery worth RM600,009 were stolen,” Comm Hussein added.

He said the robbery gang was believed to be active in Selangor, Negri Sembilan and other states.

“We believe they have a network that conducts surveillance on a housing area before carrying out the robbery.

“They usually strike in the wee hours.

“We believe they are responsible for six robberies in South Klang and seven in Negri Sembilan,” he said.

Various items believed to be stolen loot were seized, he added.
