KUALA LUMPUR: The police will commence their investigation into Roger Ng Chong Hwa, a former Goldman Sachs banker, regarding the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain has confirmed this information when contacted on Monday (Oct 9).
When contacted by Bernama, he briefly stated, “InsyaAllah, we will investigate (Ng) first.”
On Sunday (Oct 8), the police verified that Ng had arrived in the country to assist in the investigation of the case, but for security reasons, his whereabouts were not disclosed.
Last Friday (Oct 6), the media reported that Ng, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison in New York, United States, for aiding in the embezzlement of billions of dollars from 1MDB, would be extradited to Malaysia to face related charges. – Bernama
