PETALING JAYA: The police in Selangor have issued a warning to candidates participating in the state election, urging them to refrain from discussing topics concerning race, religion and royalty (3R) during the campaign period, as it is against the law.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan stated that strict action will be taken against individuals who violate this regulation.
Moreover, Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan reported that the nomination process was carried out smoothly and without incident, with 19,103 supporters from various political parties present at the 56 nomination centres. He added that a total of 6,998 police personnel were deployed at these centres on Saturday, July 29.
In terms of campaigning, candidates are required to obtain permits from the district police chief (OCPD) of the respective areas before carrying out any campaign activities.
A total of 147 candidates are set to participate in the forthcoming Selangor election.
Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan expressed appreciation to all political parties involved for ensuring the nomination process proceeded smoothly.
He also advised the public to refrain from engaging in any acts of provocation that could lead to negative incidents and disrupt public order.
