    Cops have CCTV footage of religious school knife attack suspect

    PETALING JAYA: The police have obtained CCTV footage showing the suspect leaving the area following a knife attack at a religious school’s restroom that left two women injured.

    Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Shahrulnizam Ja’afar said police obtained the footage from a CCTV of a house near the crime scene.

    “We have obtained the registration number of the car and we have identified the suspect. We are in the process of tracking him down and arresting him,” he said when contacted on Saturday (Aug 10).

    On Friday (Aug 9), the headmistress of a religious school and a mobile phone shop seller were injured; the headmistress was injured in the left arm while the other woman was injured in the stomach.

    ACP Shahrulnizam said the headmistress had been discharged but the other victim is still receiving treatment at the Shah Alam Hospital.

    “We have recorded the statements of seven individuals, including the headmistress. We are still investigating further to uncover the motive behind the attack,” he said.

    It was reported that two women were hurt after being stabbed by a man armed with a combat knife.

    The assault occurred at about 1.45pm on Friday at Sekolah Agama Insaniah in Kelana Jaya in a women’s restroom located between the school and a mosque.
