SHAH ALAM: A group of armed robbers were arrested after millions in gold ingots were stolen from a victim who was loading it into a company car.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, at a press conference at the police contingent headquarters here on Thursday (Oct 17), said that the incident occurred on Sept 13.

At the time, the victim and a co-worker were loading gold ingots into a company vehicle at an industrial complex in Puchong.

A blue car then came by and four masked men came out with weapons.

The complainant was attacked while the co-worker was held at knife point with a machete.

Around RM5.9mil in gold were stolen during the incident.

Follow up investigations led to raids between Oct 8 and 14, where seven people aged between 27 and 60 years old were arrested.

“Checks showed that four suspects had a criminal record with a total of 25 prior criminal and drug related offences,” he said.

The car used during the robbery was also seized along with cash that the police believed were the profits from the sold stolen items.

Two suspects were charged in Petaling Jaya on Oct 17 with four more scheduled to be charged on Oct 18.

“Efforts are underway to trace two more suspects,” he added.

The two have been identified as M. Sharuddin Majid (35) and Tuan Nazrin Shah Tuan Nasir (28).
