Authorities in George Town are seeking multiple suspects in connection with a recent cable theft in Ayer Hitam. According to Acting OCPD Superintendent V.Saravanan, a video was discovered on social media depicting the individuals fleeing in two vehicles upon realizing they had been spotted by Telekom Malaysia workers. The incident occurred on Nov 13, prompting the telecommunication company workers to file a police report at Bandar Baru police station.
During an inspection at the site, the workers discovered that seven cables were missing and four cables had been cut and abandoned on the road. The estimated financial loss for the company is around RM15,000. The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code.
Those with any information pertaining to the incident are urged to contact the nearest police station or investigation officer Sergeant Mohd Syazwan md Sahimi at 04-2181 1831 to aid in the investigation. The public has been advised by the police not to share any video recordings related to the incident in order to prevent speculation.
