According to Kuala Langat district police chief Supt Ahmad Ridhwan Mohd Nor @ Saleh, a box containing explosives is believed to have dropped off a vehicle on its way to a quarry in Puchong on Tuesday (Nov 14).
Police received a report at around 10.28pm on the day of the incident from a 28-year-old man who suspected the explosives had accidentally dropped off while he was on his way to the quarry.
Ahmad Ridhwan explained that while the complainant and his friend were driving on the Kajang Dispersal Link Expressway, they noticed a vehicle behind them flashing a sign that the rear bonnet of their Nissan Navara (SUV) was open.
The complainant stopped the car and closed the rear bonnet again, unaware that some cargo had dropped due to heavy traffic at the time and the hazard of stopping the vehicle. When unloading the goods at the quarry, the complainant discovered that a box of 400gms cast booster explosives was missing.
He attempted to backtrack the road but was unable to find the box, prompting him to report the incident to the police. The case is now being investigated under Section 286 of the Penal Code for reckless conduct involving explosives.
