(Reuters) – Chennai is set to host the Indian Premier League (IPL) final on May 26, marking the city’s return as the venue for the summit clash after 12 years. The Indian cricket board (BCCI) recently revealed the complete schedule of the T20 franchise tournament, which includes the final.
The BCCI initially released the schedule for the first two weeks, comprising of 21 matches, before unveiling the full schedule. This decision was made to accommodate the polling dates for the general elections taking place in the country.
During the playoffs, Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium will be the venue for the first qualifier match between the top two ranked teams on May 21. The stadium will also host the eliminator match between the next two best teams on the following day.
Following these matches, the playoffs will move to Chennai, where the defending champions Chennai Super Kings call home. The second qualifier match is scheduled for May 24, with the highly anticipated final taking place on May 26.
Additionally, Punjab Kings will be playing in Dharamsala, where they are set to host matches against Chennai and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals will conclude their tournament with two matches in Guwahati.
