In the third test match between India and England, India managed to take three wickets in the morning session, despite the absence of spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, with England at 290-5 at lunch on day three.
After posting 445 in the first innings, India is left with only 10 players for the remainder of the match as Ashwin withdrew due to a family emergency.
England skipper Ben Stokes, playing in his 100th test match, was tasked with rebuilding the innings alongside Ben Foakes, who was at six runs at the other end.
Joe Root, who has been struggling in this series, continued his lean run as he attempted a reverse shot against Jasprit Bumrah, resulting in a tricky catch by Yashasvi Jaiswal at second slip.
India then experienced another success when Kuldeep Yadav trapped Jonny Bairstow lbw for a duck with a delivery that sharply spun, with Bairstow unsuccessful in trying to overturn the decision through a review.
Duckett had a lucky break when Rohit Sharma missed a tough catch in the slips, but he was unable to capitalize on it, falling to a delivery from Kuldeep, which he slapped to Shubman Gill at cover. Duckett’s innings of 153 contained two sixes and 23 fours.
Kuldeep bowled a terrific spell, with both the English batsmen and India’s wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel struggling to read him.
The five-test series is currently tied at 1-1.
