The toss for the mouth-watering clash between India and New Zealand in the ongoing 50-overs World Cup in Dharamsala on Sunday was won by India captain Rohit Sharma, who elected to field. Both teams entered the match unbeaten, with India leaving out the injured Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur and bringing in Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami. Rohit Sharma expressed his team’s preference for chasing and mentioned that dew could make bowling difficult in the second innings. He also commented that the pitch was in good condition and unlikely to change significantly.
India and New Zealand had both won all four of their matches in the tournament so far. New Zealand, missing regular skipper Kane Williamson, fielded the same team that defeated Afghanistan in their previous match. Stand-in captain Tom Latham mentioned that they would have also chosen to bowl first due to the dew and highlighted their focus on adapting to the new conditions and maintaining their momentum.
The team composition consisted of the following players:
India: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah
New Zealand: Devon Conway, Will Young, Rachin Ravindra, Tom Latham (captain), Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, Mitchell Santner, Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult
