In Ranchi, India, the Indian cricket team was chasing a target of 192 runs for a series-clinching victory against England. At lunch on day four of the fourth test, India was struggling at 118-3.

Starting the day at 40 for no loss, the Indian batsmen were rattled by the English spinners who took three important wickets in the morning session.

After the lunch break, Shubman Gill on 18 and Ravindra Jadeja on three will be at the crease, needing 74 runs to secure the win.

With a target of 152 runs on day four and all 10 wickets intact, Indian captain Rohit Sharma scored 55 runs and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal made 37, looking comfortable on a pitch where the ball occasionally kept low.

Rohit showed his attacking intent by hitting a six off James Anderson, while Jaiswal, the top scorer of the series, hit spinner Shoaib Bashir for consecutive boundaries.

England unsuccessfully reviewed an lbw appeal against Jaiswal by Tom Hartley, as replays showed an inside edge before the ball hit the pad.

Joe Root broke the partnership by dismissing Jaiswal for 37, with Anderson taking a sharp catch at short third man. Rohit then reached his fifty but fell soon after to Hartley, who stumped him as he got out of his crease.

India lost another wicket when Bashir dismissed Rajat Patidar for a duck, leaving them at 100-3. However, with seven wickets in hand, India remained confident of securing the victory.

The fifth and final test of the series is scheduled to be held in Dharamsala starting from March 7.
