Indian cricketer Mayank Yadav patiently waited for his Indian Premier League debut for two years due to injury, but now he has emerged as a promising pace sensation and is being considered for India’s test tour of Australia.

He signed with Lucknow Super Giants in 2022 but missed playing in any matches that season due to a torn hamstring.

Finally making his IPL debut against Punjab Kings, Mayank impressed by claiming 3-27 and bowling a thunderous 155.8kph delivery, the fastest ball of the season so far.

Former West Indian cricketer Ian Bishop praised Mayank, saying he bowled “like a child of the wind” during the match.

In another match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Mayank showcased his fiery pace by taking 3-14, dismissing top players like Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green.

With consistent speeds above 150kph, he earned his second consecutive player of the match award.

Lucknow captain KL Rahul expressed his delight at seeing Mayank showcase his potential in recent games after patiently waiting for two seasons due to injury.

Former India test batter WV Raman suggested that Mayank should refine his long-format skills by playing in county cricket before potentially being selected for the upcoming five-test series in Australia.

Based on his impressive performances against renowned players like Maxwell and Green, Mayank appears ready to compete in the test format without fear.

Reflecting on his standout wicket, Mayank shared, “Green’s wicket was special for me because I bowled him, and every fast bowler enjoys that kind of dismissal. I was bowling with more aggression after taking a wicket in the previous over.”
