The Negri Sembilan DAP has revealed its list of candidates for the upcoming state polls on August 12. The party plans to field 10 out of the 11 incumbents who had previously served in the state assembly.
Anthony Loke Siew Fook, the state DAP chief, made the announcement and also declared his intention to defend his seat in Chennah, a position he first won in the 2013 election. Loke has the distinction of being the longest-serving assemblyman among the group, having secured his first term in 2004 by winning the Lobak state seat.
Mary Jospehine Prittam Singh, the current representative for Rahang, has agreed to step aside and allow a new face to contest for the seat.
Other candidates set to defend their seats include P. Gunasekaren for Seremban Jaya, Teo Kok Seong for Bahau, S. Veerapan for Repah, Yap Yew Weng for Mambau, and Ng Chin Tsai for Temiang. All five candidates will be seeking their fourth term.
J. Arul Kumar, the state organising secretary, will be contesting in Nilai, Chew Seh Yong in Lobak, Nicole Tan Lee Koon in Bukit Kepayang, and Choo Ken Hwa will defend the seat in Lukut. Arul and Chew will be vying for their third term while Tan and Choo will be going for their second term.
Desmond Siau Meow Kong, the state party treasurer, will be making his debut in Rahang, replacing Mary Josephine as the candidate for the seat.
