    (Reuters) – The number of fatalities from a bus accident close to the southern Malian town of Kenieba on Tuesday has climbed to 40, as confirmed by Burkina Faso’s government in an official statement released on Thursday. The government also stated that some of the deceased were citizens of Burkina Faso.

    The Ministry of Transport in Mali initially reported on Tuesday that a minimum of 31 individuals lost their lives when a bus en route to Burkina Faso veered off a bridge and plummeted into a river.
