KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Speaker Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor has told Members of Parliament to not disrupt the sanctity of the legislative assembly.
Ramli addressed Chong Zhemin (Pakatan-Kampar) for interruptions during the Monday session (Oct 21), emphasizing the need for order.
“The honourable member for Kampar, please take your seat. I have not finished. Let’s address these matters properly, one by one. I don’t want this session to resemble a wet market.
Keeping order in this House is a principle I always uphold. The same expectation is set for all MPs to speak in turn,” he said.
The remark came after Chong interrupted Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan (Perikatan-Kota Bahru), who was raising questions related to the Budget 2025 debates at the policy stage.
Takiyuddin was asking if issues not covered in Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s speech during the Budget 2025 presentation were open for debate.
Earlier, Ramli also paused the proceedings due to side discussions between Datuk Seri Ikmal Hashim Abdul Aziz (Perikatan-Tanah Merah) and Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan (Perikatan-Tasek Gelugor) during question time.
“The honourable members for Tanah Merah and Tasek Gelugor, if you wish to converse now, please do so outside the chamber,” he said.
