    PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong joined Malaysians in a chorus of congratulations for the nation’s badminton players over their wins on Thursday (Aug 1).

    Taking to Facebook, the MCA president shared his joy over the nation’s Olympians.

    “Yet another good news from the badminton courts at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

    “The Malaysian men’s doubles pair, Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, have reached the semifinals of the Olympics for the second consecutive time after defeating the Indian doubles pair earlier,” said Dr Wee in his congratulatory post, professing his hope that the pair can achieve an even better result in the semifinals.

    He also offered words of encouragement to Lee Zii Jia: “Keep the good news coming!

    “Following the victory of both Malaysia’s men’s and women’s doubles pairs today, Lee Zii Jia has also defeated Toma Junior Popov to reach the quarter-finals.

    “Go go go, team Malaysia!” he cheered.

    Earlier on Thursday, Dr Wee had also congratulated Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah over their record-making feat.

    “Congratulations to Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah for making history as Malaysia’s first women’s doubles pair to reach the semifinals at the Paris Olympics.

    “Praying for the best as Pearly and Thinaah play in the semifinals and we look forward to more good news from the both of them,” he added.
