Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy has been appointed as the new chairman of the TAR UMT board of governors, according to Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
The MCA president and TARC Education Foundation board of trustees chairman mentioned that TAR UMT will continue to offer affordable, high-quality education for students while ensuring steady growth for the institution.
Dr Wee expressed appreciation to Tan Sri Liow Tiong Lai, who retired as the board of governors chairman after serving for ten years.
“Liow will continue to be a part of the board of governors to provide his invaluable and professional insights,” he announced on Facebook on Wednesday (Jan 10).
Dr Wee led the first board of trustees meeting at TAR UMT in 2024 on Wednesday (Jan 10) and discussed various development plans for the new year.
He stated that the board reviewed the progress of branch campuses in Penang, Perak, Johor, Pahang, and Sabah to ensure healthy growth across all campuses.
“To ensure sustainability, our main campus will gradually implement a solar power system as a response to the increasing cost of electricity, in line with the government’s push for renewable energy initiatives,” Dr Wee added.
Furthermore, he also welcomed Ir Dr Tan Yean Chin, the former President of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia, to the board of trustees.
