Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad has filed a police report against a YouTuber whom he claims accused him of colluding with a group of MPs in Dubai to overthrow the government.

The Deputy Human Resources Minister stated that the individual had tried to link him to the ‘Dubai Move’.

“This act is a malicious accusation aimed at creating controversy and causing unrest among the people,” Abdul Rahman said in a statement on Monday (Jan 1).

Abdul Rahman, who is an Umno MP, emphasized that he had been in the country recently, participating in programs and meeting the people in his constituency in Lipis.

He also mentioned that such defamation against Barisan Nasional leaders should not occur, especially now that the unity government has a strong majority support in the Dewan Rakyat.

“These accusations are very dangerous as they can disrupt the stability of the economy and affect foreign investments, ultimately impacting job opportunities, especially for the youth,” he claimed.

To prevent such incidents from happening again and to clear his name, Abdul Rahman stated that legal action would be taken against the YouTube channel.

Another Barisan MP, former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, also distanced himself from the ‘Dubai Move’, saying he was in the Middle East to perform the umrah, as per his special officer Affifi Aris.

Affifi explained in a Facebook post that Ismail Sabri performed the umrah and returned to Malaysia on a direct flight from Saudi Arabia.

“It was a direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Madinah/Jeddah, without any stops,” he said.

Affifi also emphasized how busy Ismail Sabri was with various activities and programs after his tenure as the prime minister ended.

Community Communications Department deputy director-general Datuk Ismail Yusop claimed that the ‘Dubai Move’ was organized by Perikatan Nasional leaders and government backbenchers who were vacationing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

He stated that a meeting took place during the visit to assign specific tasks to “agents” responsible for identifying MPs who may want to switch their support to the opposition.

“It has become public knowledge in the past day or two about the Dubai holiday by Perikatan leaders, followed by the presence of several other leaders associated with groups dissatisfied with Anwar’s leadership style and the Madani government,” Ismail said.

“It is rumoured that the ‘Dubai Move’ was formulated with assignments given to a person in charge tasked to meet, negotiate and make offers to those identified as potential supporters who may switch to the opposition,” added Ismail.
