KOTA KINABALU: Two men were caught red-handed trying to illegally purchase a large quantity of subsidised diesel from in Penampang.
The suspects, aged 29 and 40, drove a four-wheel drive vehicle and a lorry to the petrol station when they were stopped by personnel from the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry at about 9.10pm on Friday (Aug 2).
Its Sabah director Georgie Abas said ministry officers found a 900-litre-capacity tank on the 4WD vehicle and another 600-litre tank on the lorry, both filled with diesel.

He said the diesel and other items worth a total of RM44,000 were seized under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
