BUTTERWORTH: The Education Ministry is launching a detailed investigation into a disturbing incident that has caused students to feel traumatized and emotionally distressed. The incident involved a male teacher at a school in Kelantan and quickly went viral on social media on Sunday (July 9).
Deputy Minister Lim Hui Ying has expressed that the allegations are being taken seriously and appropriate action will be taken if the incident is proven to be true.
“The ministry has already identified the Facebook post containing the allegations. This incident should never have happened. We are conducting a thorough investigation and will not hesitate to take the necessary actions,” she told reporters during her visit to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bagan Jaya on Monday (July 10).
Lim’s comments were in response to a statement made by a woman who claimed her son was afraid to attend school due to being bitten by a male teacher. She further revealed that her son was not the only victim, as several other students have also experienced similar incidents.
During her visit, Lim announced that RM500,000 has been allocated for the upgrading and maintenance of SMK Bagan Jaya. Additionally, Lim Guan Eng, the Bagan MP, was present and contributed RM200,000 towards the repair of toilets and the installation of air-conditioners in the staff room. – Bernama
